ProjectDox is a new online application to expedite the building permit application process by allowing electronic submittal of building plans and supporting documentation. The ProjectDox system will eliminate the need for an applicant to submit multiple paper copies of project plans in conjunction with the building permit application.

Please complete the following prior to getting started with Electronic Plans Submission:

  1.  This process only works with Windows Internet Explorer 7 browser or higher. Future enhancements will allow Mac users to use this process.
  2. Please read the applicants user guide to see all requirements. To view the guide go DCRA's web site. If your plans meet the requirements then continue to step 3.
  3. To submit a permit application go to DCRA's website.
  4. Select the Online Permit Application Icon Online Permit Application
  5. Fill out and complete the online application. (Incomplete applications will be rejected). After completing the application you will be provided a File Job number (FJ).
  6. Bring the FJ number to DCRA permit Division. (1100 4th St SW 2nd floor).
  7. Get a ticket to see a Plan Review Coordinator (PRC).
  8. If the application is accepted you have the option to submit plans using paper or submitting the plans electronically.
  9. Pay the filing fee. You have the option to pay the cashier at DCRA or pay online with a credit card.
  10. Let the PRC know your preferred processing type. If you select electronic submission, you will be sent an email with instructions on how to upload the plans online.

Future enhancements will eliminate the need to come to DCRA Note: You will still need to come to DCRA to pick up the official permit.

Supporting documents may be required before a review can be performed. You should review the requirements for supporting documents. Consult the user guide attached below.
