General Sales Licenses


General Sales Licenses cover Barber Chairs, Beauty Booth, Cigarette Retail, Parking Lot Attendant, Solicitor, and non-food Street Vendors.

Get a Barber Chair License

This classification applies if you independently lease, rent, or are authorized to occupy a barber chair from the owner of a barber shop to perform barbering services such as shaving, beard trimming, cutting, and boding the hair as well as giving shampoos, facial, and scalp massages.

Get a Beauty Booth License

Beauty booth rental applies if you own or operate a beauty shop and lease a portion of the shop (as may be enclosed within a booth) to a beautician licensed under the Cosmetology Act. The lease permits the beautician to engage in the practice of cosmetology as an independent operator.

Get a Cigarette Retail License

This classification applies if you keep for sale, offer for sale, and sell cigarettes to consumers in original packages from a place of business. A retail license does not authorize the licensee to sell cigarettes to other licensees for resale.

Get a Cigarette Wholesaler License

This classification shall authorize the licensee to manufacture, purchase, or otherwise acquire cigarettes and to keep for sale, offer for sale, and sell such cigarettes in original packages to consumers or persons holding license as a wholesaler, retailer, or vending machine operator.

This classification applies if you are an owner or manager of an establishment where mattresses are stored, sold, or kept for sale.

Get a Parking Lot Attendant License

DCRA licenses more than 30,000 small and large businesses citywide in than 100 categories. In order to operate legally in District of Columbia, most businesses must get a Basic Business License (BBL) from the DCRA.

A Second-Hand dealer, Class B, sells primarily new merchandise and only sells secondhand personal property (other than motor vehicles) only as the result of having received it in trade or by repossession or as part payment for new merchandise.
