Intent to Use Third Party Inspection Agency

Notice: Please read carefully. The procress was updated as of May 2010.

The property owner, their agent or the Third Party Agency under contract with the property owner must submit a Notice of Intent to Use Third Party Inspection Agency form for their project. Use a separate form for each Third Party Agency being used on the project. Once a project is assigned as being Third Party inspected, the entire project must be 3rd Party inspected (every discipline, every inspection); DCRA will NOT perform inspections if any inspection is being done by a Third Party.

The form should be completed, scanned, signed, and email to dcra.3rdParty@dc.gov. This is the only email account that will accept forms. No other documentation is needed. Please submit ONLY the completed form. Fax transmissions will no longer be accepted. We are also now requiring all forms be signed, scanned and emailed.

Tech Note: If you are having any issues using the form above, please update your Adobe Reader. We have provided a link at the bottom of this page. Please download the form, complete it, sign it, scan it and send to dcra.3rdParty@dc.gov by attaching completed form to a separate email.

No other inspection notification to DCRA is required until the project is complete and the final inspection performed and approved by the 3rd Party Agency. Your APPROVED Notice of Intent to Use Third Party Inspection Agency form is your permission to proceed with ALL inspections for the permits listed on the form.

Upon completion of the final inspection, submit the Third Party Inspection Approval Certificate and Report*
The Third Party Inspection Fillable Request Form and/or  Online Third Party Inspection Request Form are no longer required.

NOTE: As the Inspection Request Forms are no longer required, it is to the applicant’s advantage to submit the Notice of Intent to Use Third Party Inspection Agency form as far in advance as possible.

Property owners are encouraged to visit Certificate of Occupancy Information & Application Materials for information about obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy.

If you have questions please contact the Third Party Inspections Program at 202-442-8601 or via email.
