Street Closures & Traffic Adjustments in Downtown Area to Impact Construction Projects

Monday, January 4, 2021

As part of the District’s preparations for this week’s First Amendment activities, a number of traffic adjustments and street closures in the downtown area will be going into effect starting Tuesday, January 5. As a result, construction sites in these areas are likely to be inaccessible, including for deliveries. The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) advises construction managers and supervisors to secure their sites immediately, and to ensure that anything that can be used as a projectile, such as bricks and equipment, should be safely kept out of immediate reach of the public. While the First Amendment activities are likely to largely remain in the downtown area, it’s possible that they will expand to other areas of the city.
