Have a complaint about a business? Didn’t get what you paid for? Submit a Complaint to the Consumer Protection Unit. We want to hear from you.
Important Information Regarding Consumer Protection Unit Complaints
The Consumer Protection Unit:
- can investigate “consumer” complaints only
- investigates cases where the goods or services offered by the business were sought by the complainant for personal use
- has no authority to investigate business-to-business transactions
- has no authority to investigate landlord-tenant complaints
If you have any other questions, please contact the Consumer Protection Unit Hotline at (202) 442-4476 or complete our Consumer Complaint Form. If you choose to complete the form please fill out all required fields and be as specific as possible. While you may submit a complaint anonymously, please note it may hinder our ability to investigate a specific complaint without contact information for the complainant.
Please note: The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs requests your name and contact information in order to complete a thorough investigation into your matter, but we maintain the strictest confidentiality for all investigations. DCRA will never share your name or information without your explicit permission.
