It is the mission of the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) to ensure your building and your unit is healthy and safe. DCRA needs you, the tenant, to report your suspected housing violations.

CCCB Logo

Any person or group may submit a petition to the Construction Codes Coordinating Board (CCCB) to amend the DC Construction Codes (Title 12 of the DCMR).

The CCCB may refer a code change petition to one of the Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) for review and comment.

The DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) is committed to doing everything within its power to assist you with issues and concerns in your neighborhood. However, some issues cannot be solved by DCRA. Many of these cases require assistance beyond our jurisdiction.

How a Notice of Infraction is Issued

DCRA may conduct a re-inspection of the property on or after the date a property owner is required to complete abatement.

DCRA has implemented a new "safe & simple" tool that allows residents to upload construction documents and plans for adjacent neighbors

The District of Columbia imposed a permanent moratorium on the issuance of any permits for the erection or construction of a "Special Sign." Only 32 Special Signs are legally allowed to exist in the District.
