The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) creates and changes all official addresses in the District of Columbia.
Any person or group may submit a petition to the Construction Codes Coordinating Board (CCCB) to amend the DC Construction Codes (Title 12 of the DCMR).

Every domestic and foreign corporation, Limited Liability Company, Limited Liability Partnership, Limited Partnership (effective 01/12), General and Limited Cooperative Association, Business Trust (effective 01/12) is required to file two-year reports with Corporations Division to maintain good standing within the District of Columbia.
DC Official Code § 42-3131.06 requires that you register your building with the Vacant Building Enforcement unit within 30 days of it becoming vacant. Failure to register your building can result in civil and/or criminal penalties of $2,000 in fines per violation and up to 90 days imprisonment.
