The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs Green Building Division received the "Energy Institution of the Year Award" from the Association of Energy Engineers' (AEE) National Capital Chapter. An awards ceremony was held at George Washington University's Science and Engineering Hall.
The award is presented to a public sector entity for outstanding accomplishments in developing, organizing and implementing its comprehensive energy management program.
The Green Building Division received this year’s award for its coordination, introduction and enforcement of energy and green construction codes in the District; and the development of its voluntary residential Net Zero Energy program.
Founded in 1977, AEE is as a nonprofit professional society whose mission is to promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry and to foster action for "sustainable development."
